Would you dare cross a flooded street?
We asked about a hundred drivers to answer the question and many of them told us that it's a decision that you shouldn't think about, if, by any chance, you don't care about how much money you'll spend to repair your car then you can go on and test the toughness of your auto.
Some fancy car commercials always show how strong their brands are by showing the viewers a scene from their road test, driving through deep streams and crossing parts of rivers but the question is... Are these scenes from some advertisements 'realistic' or are we just looking at another episode of "expectation" vs "reality" meme???
We always drive around the city and through our experience we have learned how to deal with these kinds of challenges on the road. For most of the time we have that gut feeling to cross roads when these infamous catch basin streets are covered with water and mud.
How do you know if you can take a tough challenge like that or not? When do you stop and tell yourself to just wait for the flood to subside??? These questions run around our minds when we catch ourselves in the middle of these situations.
A veteran driver told us these very useful tips... "Be observant when you find yourself driving in a flooded area. Take a look at the type of cars who are turning back and the ones driving straight trough the water. Look for a higher platform where you can park and wait if you think your auto won't make it, or just turn back because it's always safer. While driving through the flood, it's best not to change gears if possible because that's where the water gets sucked up and goes straight into your engines. Don't get stressed when that happens because you can always have it checked at your nearest repair shops the next day or so. It's just to make sure you can avoid future issues that might surprise you while driving.
Experts say that your car is just like your pet, you feed them with quality liquids, you clean them up... at times, you even bathe them - you take really good care of them... so you know how long they will last in these situations because just like your pet they are an extension of your life.
"It's an extension of your life..."
Is there still hope resolving these flood problems in our country??? "A striking yes..." they said... but we're going to have to be patient waiting for it... as more and more plans and projects have been laid and constructions on going... In due time, the city roads will be just like the roads in other countries... "flood free"
Let's wait and see how these resolutions can help us for the time to come because all we can do now is to trust them people in the position to improve our way of living in this loving country of ours, The Philippines.
